Sofa Selection Guide | coconordic

Sofa Guide

To carefully choose
a sofa that will last.

The sofa is the most intimate piece of furniture, placed at the center of a room. Considering it from multiple perspectives—not just design, but also material, size, structure, and price range—will lead to a choice you won't regret.

01

Determine the room's ratio first

Choosing the size of the sofa should be done before choosing its design. The desire for a "large sofa" and the wish for it to "blend into the room" often contradict each other. Consider the actual dimensions, including checking the搬入経路.

  • Measure the width and height of the wall where the sofa will be placed
  • Check if traffic flow (minimum 60cm) can be secured
  • Check the delivery route, including the entrance, hallway, and door width
  • Consider the distance to the coffee table (30-45cm)
02

The silhouette defines the room's impression

The outline of a sofa dictates the overall tone of a room. Linear forms bring a modern and calm feel, while curved designs add softness and movement. At coconordic, we offer models that cater to both directions.

The sitting comfort is worth experiencing firsthand

What photos can't convey is the firmness of the seat and the depth of its sink. Whether "firm and supportive" or "soft and enveloping" is right depends on your use and physique. You can experience all models at our Aoyama showroom.

Image of a person relaxing on a sofa
  • Seat height: Lower (below 35cm) for relaxation, higher (42cm and above) for easier sitting and standing
  • Depth: Deeper for those who want to lie down, shallower for maintaining posture
  • Backrest angle: More upright for work/dining, more reclined for rest
  • If possible, sit for at least 3 minutes to check
04

Choose materials based on your lifestyle

Fabric and leather each offer different aging characteristics and textures. It's not about which is "better," but which "suits" your lifestyle.

Close-up image of sofa materials (fabric and leather)
  • Fabric: Warm texture, wide color selection, easy to care for in homes with pets or children
  • Leather: Develops character with age, easy to wipe clean, offers a cool and sharp impression
  • Be aware of fading in sunny areas (especially for light-colored fabrics)
  • We recommend ordering samples and checking them under actual lighting conditions
